Toyota Cut Its Global Production Target For April By 17 Percent

Mar 18, 2022

On March 17, Toyota said it planned to produce an average of about 800, 000 vehicles a month in the second quarter of this year due to a persistent shortage of automotive semiconductors.

Specifically, Toyota's global production, including overseas production, is expected to decline by 150,000 units to 750,000 units in April (250,000 units in Japan and 500,000 units overseas). The numbers provided to suppliers at the start of the year included the expected resumption of production cuts, but Toyota cut production because of semiconductor shortages. Compared with forecasts at the start of the year, production was cut by 10 per cent in May and 5 per cent in June.
